The Meaning Behind Cattleya

Cattleya is a genus of orchids from Costa Rica south to Argentina.
Orchids stand for the symbol of love and affection. It has the ability to grow anywhere and has the resistance power to bloom under any condition, that makes it a symbol of love. During the Victorian Era, it was said, that rarer the flower you chose as a gift, deeper was your love. In parts of Europe, orchids were used as a key ingredient in love potions

Meet The Owners

Marissa studied at Eastern Florida State College in Marketing and Business Management.  Her background in hospitality combines restaurant management, catering special events, and advertising campaigns in the industry. With this knowledge, Marissa oversees the venue Manager position, handling marketing and taking care of The Brides. A vision to provide a unique space for people to get married and not be your normal “barn” venue is how Cattleya Chapel came about today. Marissa also has many hands in the pot, she is a full-time real estate agent for The Land Corporation of Florida and also does photography. When she is not working she is working on the farm and spending time with her animals!

Clayton met Marissa while she was in the restaurant management business. The boy likes his BBQ she says! The two instantly fell in love and got married a short year after. Clayton works for St.Johns Water Management as an invasive plant tech for the State of Florida.  Clayton oversees the day to day operations at Cattleya Chapel. Clayton says he hates it but Marissa says its love- most of his days are spent taking care of the maintenance and landscaping at the farmhouse. His hobbies consist of fishing, hunting, and working his cattle. He is a true southern gentleman and old western enthusiast, some may say he is trapped in those old western black and white movies and buries himself in the knowledge of Old Florida History.

Jimmy and Jenny Rider are the most adorable couple you have ever met.  Jimmy is witty as they come and Jenny has the ultimate Tennessee heart and soiree. They have been happily married for over 40 years. While Jimmy still works for St. Johns Water Management, Jenny is now retired..woohoo! She now spends most of her time at home with her family and helping Marissa maintain and manage the venue. They soon hope to move to Vero and live on-site at the venue. Jimmy has tirelessly worked so hard for his family and future wedding couples to provide this awesome venue space, while one could have given up he did not. Because of him, his place is a dream come true states Marissa and she and Clayton are forever grateful!
